Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-06

1. The service

Studroof is a C2C platform connecting Erasmus students with housing (MVP Bordeaux).

2. Conditions

18 or older, a verifiable Erasmus student status, no spam, no fraud, no illegal content.

3. Account

One account per person, accurate information, password security is your responsibility.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of your content and grant Studroof a non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform.

5. Paid offers

Studroof is currently free: no paid offer is available for purchase and no payment is charged. The features presented as "Plus" are, for now, open at no cost. Should Studroof offer paid products again (for example fixed-duration "Studroof Passes"), the following terms will apply: each Pass is a fixed-duration contract for the supply of digital content and services, paid in a single one-shot payment via Stripe (payment mode, non-recurring) — they are not subscriptions, they do not renew and trigger no later automatic charge. The duration and the price of each Pass, all taxes included, are shown to you before any payment. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code, for as long as Studroof falls under the VAT-exemption (franchise en base) regime. Each Pass unlocks the Plus features for the chosen duration, counted from the payment date; at expiry, access ends automatically and is not renewed. The price paid is not refunded pro rata in the event of non-use or expiry, except where you validly exercise the right of withdrawal below or where a mandatory legal provision states otherwise. Because access to the digital service is opened at your express request as soon as you pay, before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period (article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code), and with your acknowledgement that you lose that right, the right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised once access is opened, in accordance with article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code. A confirmation of your agreement and of your Pass details (duration, price paid, expiry date) is then sent to you by email on a durable medium, in accordance with article L221-13 of the French Consumer Code. Prior Studroof+ subscriptions: the monthly Studroof+ subscription is no longer offered to new customers. Subscriptions taken out previously remain active, at the price agreed when subscribed, and are honoured until they are cancelled: you can cancel them at any time via /account, with no commitment, no notice, no proration of the current month and no cancellation fee, in accordance with article L215-1-1 of the French Consumer Code. ⚠️ Provisional text — lawyer review required.

6. Payments

Where applicable, paid offers (Studroof Passes and previously taken-out Studroof+ subscriptions) are paid via Stripe. Rent and deposit are paid directly to the landlord, outside Studroof.

7. Anti-fraud

Report via the anti-scam Shield; suspension is possible; appeals by email.

8. Liability

Studroof is an intermediary and does not guarantee transactions or listings. Always visit in person (Visitiforme).

9. Intellectual property

The Studroof brand, logo and editorial content are protected.

10. Termination

By you via /account/danger-zone, or by Studroof in case of a breach of these terms.

11. Governing law

French law; courts of Bordeaux have jurisdiction.

12. Changes

Any change to these terms is notified 30 days in advance.

13. Roofers Programme

The Roofers Programme is free and limited to 100 seats for the autumn 2026 cohort. It grants Plus access for the duration of the Erasmus semester (autumn 2026) and a lifetime Roofer badge that is purely cosmetic. At the end of the semester, the user reverts to free and must, to keep Plus access once it becomes paid again, purchase a Studroof Pass at the price then in force, like any other user. The Roofer badge remains displayed for life but does not unlock any paid benefit. The programme was originally named the "Founder Programme" until 9 June 2026; the programme conditions are unchanged — only the name differs.

14. Student verification

Some actions (contacting members, publishing on Marketplace, creating events or handovers) require a Verified Student profile. Verification uses a university email or document; files are deleted after review. ⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.

15. Handover: rent and contacts

When a student posts a room handover, any rent and charges shown are for information only, under that student’s sole responsibility. Studroof plays no part in the rental, sets no price, handles neither rent nor deposit, and takes no commission on your rent: the platform only hosts the listing and connects students. The lease, the deposit and the payment are agreed directly between you, the outgoing student and the host or agency. Studroof does not collect the host’s or the agency’s contact details: if you want to pass them on to another student, you do it yourself, in the messaging, and under your own responsibility. Studroof does not contact the host for you and does not arrange the viewing. ⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.

16. Prohibited content in conversations

When you send an image in a conversation, you remain responsible for it and confirm you have the right to share it (in particular when a photo involves another person). The following are strictly prohibited, and may be removed and reported to the competent authorities: any illegal content, and in particular any child sexual abuse material (Article 227-23 of the French Criminal Code); content inciting hatred, violence or discrimination; infringing content or content violating intellectual property rights; malicious files; harassment, threats, spam and scams. Studroof does not check or screen the exchanged files in advance; some risky formats may be refused at upload. ⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.

17. Reporting and moderation

Studroof hosts the messages, images and locations exchanged but carries out no general or systematic monitoring of their content (French Act of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy, Article 6; Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, Article 8). A reporting mechanism, accessible from each message, lets you bring illegal content to our attention. When manifestly illegal content is reported to us, we act promptly to remove it or make it inaccessible. You can also delete your own messages and attachments at any time. Any abusive or bad-faith report may be sanctioned. Contact point for reports and authorities: support@studroof.com. ⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.

18. Location sharing

You can choose to share your location in a conversation. This sharing is one-off (a single point at the moment you decide to), is never automatic or continuous — Studroof does not track you and does not record your movements — and is visible only to your correspondent. By sharing your location, you confirm you are disclosing only your own location and that you have the right to share it. You can delete a location message at any time; deleting it erases the corresponding coordinates. Any map link offered opens a third-party mapping service in your browser, under its own privacy policy; Studroof does not use your location for any purpose other than this display in the conversation. ⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.

19. Publishing listings (hosts)

By publishing a housing listing, you declare that you are the owner of the property, a tenant authorised to sublet it, or a professional (residence, agency) entitled to offer it, and that you have the right to let it.

Accuracy: the listing’s information and photos must be accurate, up to date and correspond to the property actually offered. Misleading listings, fake accommodation and photos that do not match the property are prohibited (article L121-1 of the French Consumer Code, misleading commercial practices).

Non-discrimination: it is prohibited to reject an applicant or word a listing on a discriminatory ground — in particular origin, surname, physical appearance, sex, family situation, pregnancy, state of health, disability, sexual orientation, age, opinions, religion, nationality or place of residence (article 1 of French Act No. 89-462 of 6 July 1989 and article 225-1 of the French Criminal Code).

Prohibited content: any illegal content, incitement to hatred or discrimination, counterfeiting, infringement of third-party rights, contact details aimed at bypassing the platform for fraudulent purposes, spam and scams.

Removal and Studroof’s role: Studroof may remove a listing or suspend an account that breaches these rules or the law, in particular following a report (see section 17). Studroof hosts the listings and carries out no general monitoring of their content (French Act of 21 June 2004, Article 6; Regulation (EU) 2022/2065). Studroof is an introduction intermediary, not a real-estate agency (French Act No. 70-9 of 2 January 1970, the "Hoguet" Act): it sets no rent, arranges no viewings, handles neither rent nor deposit, signs no lease and takes no commission — the lease is agreed directly between the host and the student, outside the platform (see section 8).

⚠️ Draft — lawyer review required.
